IHK Reutlingen Water Network: "Water meets Space"

How can data from space help us better understand our water resources and use them more sustainably? At the next meeting of the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Water Network, you will learn how expertise from the Green Space Center Baden-Württemberg is making this possible.

Two start-ups from Tübingen will show how space technologies are solving real challenges in water management:

  • HydroGeoTwin and founder Fernando Mazo D'Affonseca, Ph.D., make water and soil dynamics visible using digital twins, satellite data, and AI.
  • Yugen Space and founder Anand Waghmare analyze soil and water conditions in a comprehensible and practical way using hyperspectral satellite data.
  • In addition, Evelyn Schaible and Dr. Tobias Adamczyk provide insights into the work of the Green Space Center, which supports both established companies and startups in building global networks in the space context.

GSC BW at Space Tech Expo Europe 2025

The Green Space Center Baden-Württemberg participated in this year’s Space Tech Expo Europe, held in Bremen from 18- 20 November 2025. As Europe’s largest trade fair for the space industry, the Expo welcomed more than 10,000 professional visitors and over 950 exhibitors. The event once again brought together the entire spectrum of the space-technology supply chain and placed particular emphasis on New Space developments — from sustainable space operations and small-satellite innovations to cost-efficient launch technologies, advanced manufacturing methods and cybersecurity. With over 200 experts speaking across its accompanying conference programme, the Expo offered a comprehensive overview of the technological and strategic trends shaping the future of the space sector.

Within this strong international line-up, we were delighted to be a sponsor of the Expo and also to contribute directly to the programme by providing two 20-minute speaking slots at the Technology Forum to five of our member companies. Their presentations allowed innovations and technologies from Baden-Württemberg to be showcased and to highlight the region’s active role within Europe’s growing New Space ecosystem.

Besides the speaking slots, an interview with our member company betterSoil was conducted by Senkrechtstarter, it is available here.

Reflecting on this year’s Space Tech Expo Europe, we look back on productive discussions, new partnerships and many valuable impulses. The event underlined how essential collaboration, innovation and sustainability are for the future of space activities.

With fresh momentum and strengthened networks, we look forward to continuing our mission: advancing green space technologies from Baden-Württemberg and helping shape a responsible and forward-looking space sector.

Empowering Innovation for a Sustainable Future: SCEFAB Founders Lab 2025 in Senegal

From October 6th to 12th, 2025, the SCEFAB Founders Lab 2025 took place in Saint Louis, Senegal.

Bringing together students and experts from Hochschule Neu-Ulm (Germany), Université Gaston Berger (Senegal), and Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), the week-long workshop focused on developing innovative business ideas which promote circular economy principles in the agribusiness sector.

Among professors and researchers from the three universities, betterSoil, one of our member companies, participated on-site to provided hands-on mentoring and shared practical insights from the field. The Green Space Center Baden-Württemberg (GSC) contributed with a virtual expert lecture, showcasing how satellite data and earth observation (EO) technologies can empower sustainable agricultural solutions. The session demonstrated the growing relevance of geospatial tools in tackling environmental and economic challenges across the African continent and beyond. Throughout the workshop, students developed a range of promising business concepts. Four of these were selected for further development during the current semester, bringing theory closer to practice, and vision closer to impact.

The SCEFAB Founders Lab 2025 is a powerful example of how cross-border collaboration and knowledge-sharing can equip the next generation to build a more resilient and sustainable future.
