Empowering Innovation for a Sustainable Future: SCEFAB Founders Lab 2025 in Senegal

From October 6th to 12th, 2025, the SCEFAB Founders Lab 2025 took place in Saint Louis, Senegal.
Bringing together students and experts from Hochschule Neu-Ulm (Germany), Université Gaston Berger (Senegal), and Bahir Dar University (Ethiopia), the week-long workshop focused on developing innovative business ideas which promote circular economy principles in the agribusiness sector.
Among professors and researchers from the three universities, betterSoil, one of our member companies, participated on-site to provided hands-on mentoring and shared practical insights from the field. The Green Space Center Baden-Württemberg (GSC) contributed with a virtual expert lecture, showcasing how satellite data and earth observation (EO) technologies can empower sustainable agricultural solutions. The session demonstrated the growing relevance of geospatial tools in tackling environmental and economic challenges across the African continent and beyond. Throughout the workshop, students developed a range of promising business concepts. Four of these were selected for further development during the current semester, bringing theory closer to practice, and vision closer to impact.
The SCEFAB Founders Lab 2025 is a powerful example of how cross-border collaboration and knowledge-sharing can equip the next generation to build a more resilient and sustainable future.
